Salary Wallet Disbursement

Bulk Payments Overview

Bulk Payments is a MyZaka service that enables organizations to make convenient, simple and secure payments to multiple beneficiaries. 

It can be used by organisations to pay their employees’ salaries.

MyZaka subscribers have 2 wallets attached to their MyZaka accounts:

  1. Main Wallet: the usual wallet subscribers have always had.

  2. Salary Wallet: Only activated by receiving funds from an organization.

Subscribers can perform the following using their salary wallet (the same as their main wallet, accept for deposits):

  1. Airtime Purchases

  2. Bill Payments
  3. Prepaid Electricity Purchases

  4. Transfers to registered and unregistered customers

  5. Withdrawals

Note:

*Subscribers are limited to 2x salary wallet withdrawals a month.

*Subscribers cannot deposit into their salary wallet.

When making a transactions (eg airtime purchase), funds will be deducted primarily from the main wallet. If the main wallet has insufficient funds, the balance shall be taken from the salary wallet in order to complete the transaction.

Subscribers can check the balance of their salary wallet by performing a balance check. The balance check will show the balances of both their Main and Salary Wallets.

Salary wallet has a maximum account limit of P4,000.00.

Funds cannot be transferred between the main and salary wallets.

Salary Wallet Fees

Free withdrawals from salary wallet. Limited to 2 withdrawals a month.

All other MyZaka service fees remain the same:

  • P5.00 Transfer to registered customers

  • P5.00 DStv bill payments

  • P2.50 Prepaid electricity purchases 

  • Transfer to unregistered customers

  • Free Airtime purchases

  • Free Mascom postpaid bill payments

  • Free Botswana Life Mosako premium payments

Benefits to subscribers

When making a transaction (eg airtime purchase), funds will be deducted primarily from the main wallet. If the main wallet has insufficient funds, the balance shall be taken from the salary wallet in order to complete the transaction.

Subscribers can check the balance of their salary wallet by performing a balance check. The balance check will show the balances of both their Main and Salary Wallets.

Bulk Payments Organisation Operations

  • The organization enters into a contract with Mascom.

  • An account is created for organization on the MyZaka system.

  • The organization is given access to the system.

  • The organization credits money into their MyZaka account by depositing in Mascom Trust Account.

  • The organization distributes the funds at their convenience.

  • The recipients receive the funds directly into their MyZaka accounts, in their salary wallets.

Benefits to the Organisations

  1. Secure: reduces the risk of theft or loss from carrying cheques or cash for payroll.

  2. Saves on costs: cheaper than issuing cheques.

  3. Saves on time: o working hours lost due to queuing to get salaries or to cash out cheques.

  4. Convenient: quick and easy payment method done from the comfort of the office.

  5. Allows for process management: payments can be scheduled, monitored to confirm successful transfer, and reports can be extracted. 

FAQs

Q: Can a customer register for salary wallet?
A: Customers cannot register for salary nor main wallet alone. Once registered, all customers have access to a MyZaka account which automatically has the two wallets attached.

Q: Can a subscriber top up their salary wallet?
A: No, customers do not have access to deposit into their salary wallet. When customers make deposits, their main wallet is automatically credited. The salary wallet can only be credited if they are the recipient of an organization processing bulk payments.

Q: Can a subscriber transfer funds from their main wallet to salary wallet?
A: No. Funds cannot be transferred between wallets. However when making transactions, customers have access to both wallets. Funds are debited primarily from the main wallet, and if the main wallet has insufficient funds, the salary wallet will be used to cover the remaining balance.

Q: Do customers have to have balances in both wallets to use MyZaka?
A: No. Customers can have a balance in either, or both wallets to make transactions.
