Diacore Gaborone Marathon
The Diacore Gaborone Marathon is probably one of the most popular sporting events in the countries calendar and this year was proof of that. The event attracts participants from as far as Ethiopia and Namibia making it a great opportunity to expose and educate people from other countries about Botswana. The marathon is an incredibly fun day out for the entire family with great activities such as Zumba, water slides, stage performances, food courts and plenty of refreshments. As an AIMS and IAAF certified event the Diacore Gaborone Marathon is a qualifier for the Commonwealth and Olympic games. It is also widely renowned as one of the flattest and fastest routes in the region. Mascom has once again committed to sponsoring the 10KM race; currently the most widely registered race of the marathon. The minimum age requirement for this race is that the athlete must be 10 years or older on 13 May 2018. How’s that for a thoughtful present for a 10year old?
Mascom’s contribution towards sports development in the country ranges from football, volleyball, chess and netball, to mention a few so it came as no surprise that they saw it fit to support the Diacore marathon for another year. One of the most exciting things about the 10KM race is the preparation that different running clubs undergo in order to prepare for it. 10KM may sound like a walk in the park for some but it takes a seasoned runner to complete the race without breaking a sweat.
