Mascom eSIM will work on smartphones that are eSIM compatible. You may follow below steps to check compatibility for your smartphone;
eSIM on iPhone:
- Go to Settings> Mobile Data > Add eSIM
- If the “Add eSIM” is available, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs.
eSIM on Samsung:
- Go to Settings> Connections> SIM card manager> Add eSIM.
- If the “Add eSIM” is available, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs.
eSIM on Google Phones:
- Open the Settings app . Then, select Network & internet.
- Select SIMs.
- If “Download a new eSIM” is available, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs
eSIM on Huawei Phones:
- go to Settings > About phone > Show EID.
- If the “EID information” is displayed, it should mean that your device supports eSIMs.
For other devices not listed above. Customers are advised to check with their smartphones manual.

eSIM Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What is eSIM?
Answer: eSIM is an embedded or electronic SIM card which is in built into a smartphone, tablet or wearable devices. It operates just like a physical SIM card in that it allows you send & receive messages, notifications, calls and browse data.
Question: Who qualifies for eSIM?
Answer: Any customer with an eSIM capable mobile device
Question: Can I do a SIM SWAP to an eSIM?
Answer: Yes, any customer with an eSIM capable mobile device
Question: What happens to my current physical SIM card if I SWAP it to eSIM?
Answer: Only 1 mobile number can be allocated to a SIM card, either eSIM or Physical SIM card. Therefore, in this case, only eSIM will start working & physical SIM card will be unusable.
Question: Can you roam while using eSIM?
Answer: YES, roaming will work the same way as is currently. Prepaid customers will still have to dial *123# navigate to roaming & activate/deactivate roaming. Postpaid customers must engage their account managers.
Question: How many eSIMs can one have in a single device?
Answer: This depends on the device used;
For Apple iPhone, you can install eight or more eSIMs on an iPhone BUT can ONLY have 2 active eSIM numbers at the same time.
For other brands, you can install up to five eSIMs BUT can ONLY have 1 active at a time.
Question: How can I activate eSIM?
Answer: Customer will need to scan eSIM QR code provided to them either at Mascom Shops or at any designated touchpoint e.g., Mascom activations & then follow on screen device steps.
Question: Do I need to register my eSIM like currently is the case with physical SIM?
Answer: Yes, customers need to ensure that their KYC details are updated by visiting nearest Mascom shop to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations
Question: How many eSIMs can be active at the same time in a single device?
Answer: This depends on the device used. For Apple iPhone, customers can have 2 eSIMs active at the same time. Samsung allows only 1 to be active at the same time
Question: Can I have both physical SIM & eSIM in a single device?
Answer: eSIM has multi-SIM capability, where devices have an eSIM and a physical SIM slot. You can add lines on both SIM slots and can switch between profiles or contract lines at any time.
Question: Can I buy an eSIM with a different MSISDN from the one I one I already have?
Answer: Yes, customers are allowed to acquire a new Mascom eSIM as per existing Mascom processes & BOCRA regulations
Question: Can I do international calls using eSIM?
Answer: Yes, existing international call rates apply.
Question: Can I call none-eSIM numbers?
Answer: Yes, existing call rates apply.
Question: Can I do an eSIM replacement in a scenario where I have lost my mobile device or My eSIM device is not working and I want to switch to Non eSIM device? ?
Answer: Yes, you need to acquire an eSIM capable device first then visit a Mascom Shop for another eSIM.
Alternatively, you can visit Mascom shop to acquire a physical SIM card replacement
